Copy and paste, shame...

I think it's very weak how you have just copied and pasted all the drawings from the website - 'Creativeuncut' - You could have at the least redrew the drawings, or even traced. But to just copy and paste it....

Don't get me wrong though I did like the film and I'm a little bit of a fan of Disgaea. But I think you should try drawing them next time..

MaKd responds:

The pictures actually came frm the official art book. Besides, that Creativecut thing your talking about doesn't have every backround and character emotion.

What more can i say?

No much else I can say that I haven't already said when you posted this on Deviant Art, thought it would be nice to show support here too though :)
So again i'll say - simply amazing work, I really mean it. You've really developed a unique style, especially with your backgrounds.
A Story you might find interesting - When I watched this at college, a friend came over and asked "Bloody hell Alex! Did you make that?" to which is replied "Nope", he gave a sigh of relief and said "Oh I was going to say! Thats a bit too bloody good for something you could ever make!'. Hehe, I just thought you might like to know that ^_^
So Congrats on making something bloody good. I'll look forward to any more projects you wish to make in the future.
Take care.

AloneInTheDark responds:

Man, thank you again Paper_SFX, your opinion means alot to me. I didnt put you in the special thanks for nothing ^^.
By the way, i think its bullshit what your friend said. Im serious, u are much better than me. You only just started animating and you already did amazing stuff. Look at my first movie (short skirt) and compare it to yours.

Again thank you very much for the support and if you ever need help with flash or anything else, you can always ask me

A trademark AloneInTheDark movie

I really like the colouring and sketchy outines you created for this animation, it gives it a great original touch to it.
I noticed that you seemed to use a few more frame-by-frame techniques in this animation, which is always a bonus.
There were also a few funny moments (even though I don't think I was supposed to laugh!) when the robot/man's head got bent back from having a stone thrown at it. I guess that was just mean to laught at that :).

Overall it was a very nice animation, my only complaint would be about the mechanical noises the robot/man made; I think it maybe shouldn't have been as loud.

I give this a 5/5

AloneInTheDark responds:

Thanks SFX! Indeed there were a few more frame by frame scenes in this one. And some dark humor. I like combining serious stuff with a little humor.
I know the mechanical sounds may be a little bit too loud yes. Perhaps i should have changed that.
Thanks for the great review and take care pal!

Great

hehe that was great! I was expecting a sinister dark animation.... great element of suprise in there ;) - You backgrounds are amazing too, good job!
5/5

HappyHarry responds:

Cheers mate, puh, sinister and dark my foot, this is HAPPY harry we're talking about

I really liked this

This was a pritty cool animation, great little sketches - I especially liked the way you could still see a faint outline of the drawing that was rubbed out, I thought that was a great touch.
Good job 4/5.
Did you create that music yourself by the way?

Solation responds:

Thanks for the review. To answer your question, I did create the music. You can listen to more of it at www.acidplanet.com/jon_gamboa

I liked it

This was a pritty cool animation, although i'm not sure why it was such a big file size? was it all drawn in flash?
Anyway, nice animation, But, i find it annoying when people do the white slash across the screen thing - just seems like an easy way out of animating a fight ;)
I gave this 4/5

jb-cubed3 responds:

Hi Paper_SFX,

Thanks for your score. :)

1) why it was such a big file size? was it all drawn in flash?

It was, but I think because the graphics really outstrech the canvas and there are some quite complex scenes within it is why the size is pretty huge.

2)white slash across the screen thing -just seems like an easy way out of animating a fight ;)

hehe! ;) don't tell anyone!

How to draw or how to copy?

If you're using pictures as reference as you said, it means to look at others drawings and adapt it into your own style; or draw that figure in other poses.
One thing that annoyed me was the part where you had suddenly added shadows in without saying why you have put the shadows in where you did, do you know why the shadows are where they are or was that just how they looked on the picture you copied.(Also i have no idea what you mean by convert to MC)
Copying pictures is easy enough for most people but creating original drawing is what requires a tutorial.
Sorry but this dosen't strike me as a tutorial; more like an idea you came up with to try and show off a few drawings.

Nice drawings though:)

KorteX responds:

Well thats what most peoples art styles come from, adapting other styles and making them uniqe to your own.But ill try another tut with my own stuff and ill be more elaborate.

Some great effects

I thought this movie was really good, i don't know why it's scoring lower than 3 (at the moment).
The part i liked the best was the way you did some of your effects; for example the way you did the dust as the ship landed, i thought that was well created.
Good job, i'll be watching parts 2 and 3. :)

5-7 responds:

Thanks a lot... and belive me, i don't know why this score too

Like Something Pixar Would Create

A Great PeopleMation animation, it looks as though alot of effort when into creating this.
It's cool how you managed to give the fans a personality, reminds me of an animation Pixar would create.

1 Question - Do you have a quicktime version, or just a better quality version for download on a website perhaps? - Hard to tell what was going on sometimes, alothough thats the 5mb limits fault.:)

I hope this ends the Clay animation trend which is getting really boring...

Dustball responds:

Thanks. Tell you what... watch the through the 3 credits and there is a link to a better better quality version on our website! ;)

I have changed profiles to - Chibikko_Wardy
